Best Laser Printer Homepage

Question: What is the best laser printer to buy in my situation?

I am sick of spending $20+ for ink for my inkjet printer (Lexmark 1300 Series) and getting almost nothing out of it. Laser printers seem to be the better choice. I would like a printer that can handle many pages of black & white printing and maybe occasionally color (not required). What is/ are the cheapest laser printer(s) with fast printing speeds, good quality printing, and low maintenance costs (toner/ drum/ etc)? just to be clearer on what I want: I would like a printer for no more than $100.00. thanks to sam for providing multiple printers and detailed answer. those printers are ok, but have many separate consumables to buy and would be rather inconvenient. I want a printer that only requires periodic toner replacement.

Over 3 years I bought 2 Brother HL2040 black laser printers for $50 each. Since then I have replaced the toner with refills on ebay for $6. Each toner is good for about 3,000 pages. If you have no need for color or scanning then by all means get a printer like this. If you want sharp, fast and color, we have 5 Samsung CLP-300 color lasers in the family. The most expensive we bought off ebay brand new for $96 delivered a few months ago. So far we've only had to replace one black toner in the most used one.
