I have changed the ink only twice and now the paper rollers will not feed paper through the machine. It will cost more to fix it than the printer cost when it was new, so I paid $200 plus $150 in ink for less than 2 years of light use. I would like to avoid having this problem again by buying an inexpensive printer with inexpensive ink. That way if the printer breaks in 2 years at least it won't have been a waste of money like the Canon was.Thank you.

I live in the UK and have had my canon ip4500 for just over a year and it suddenly doesn't recognise the print head. Re installing it doesn't work and on further inspection it'll cost more to fix than to purchase another one. I asked what the best inkjet printer was based on the cost of the printer plus the cost of the ink per page, and whether there was a web site where these factors were compared.One answer I got was, " HP no question." This is not helpful. First, I know that the ink for HP inkjet printers is very expensive, and runs out very fast, the exact opposite of what I am looking for, or what anyone would be looking for in a printer.Second, I know that HP printers are known for breaking down soon after they are purchased. They used to be known for reliability, but now they are known as being disposable, they sell you a printer, make you pay a lot for ink and then have to buy another printer.HP printers may be good on the high end for example $500 to $1,000 or more , but at the consumer end of $50 to $200, they are junk that is expensive to use.
